EMPOWERING OUR COMMUNITY
We support local people who are doing great local projects.
We love our local community and treasure this place. A key part of the Mārahau Pledge is giving back.
A portion of every ticketed experience or guest night with the local signatories here in Mārahau is invested directly into local projects that contribute to improving local biodiversity, conservation and community outcomes.
Already, we’ve been able to provide support for pest trapping, wetland restoration, public art, a māra kai, and infrastructure, and we’re keen to do more.
If you need funding for a local project or initiative that you think will make Mārahau an even better place, we’d love to hear from you.

How to apply
It’s simple. To keep the funding application process user-friendly, there are no funding deadlines or arduous reporting criteria. Just fill in the form below and you’re away.
The main thing we are looking for is that your project benefits the environment and community of Mārahau. While not a dealbreaker, co-funded projects are a winner for us, simply because we can do so much more together.
Grants depend on the availability of funds but can range from $500 to $50,000. It is important to note that while we provide funding for projects, we do not manage them or implement proposals - that’s up to you!
NEXT STEP
And then what?
The Mārahau Environmental Trust, the governance group that holds funds on behalf of Mārahau Pledge signatories, meets quarterly to review applications. Funds granted depend on availability at the time of application.
If successful, we’ll need an invoice and receipt for our donation.
That’s it!
